Bauhinia vahlii Wright & Arn is a huge climber native mainly to India and has been cultivated as an ornamental plant in different regions including Eygpt. It belongs family Fabaceae (Caesalpinaceae), which grows Sub-Himalayan region at altitude of 3000m above sea level Assam, Central India, Eastern Western Ghats. The herb extensively utilised numerous traditional medical practises, Ayurveda, Unani, homoeopathy due the presence various important phytoconstituents. This review primarily outlines its historical aspects, phytoconstituents pharmacological action folklore uses.
